Party People

Over the past month the Percy’s have been party animals!
First, we partied for Whitten’s 3rd birthday (complete with a real train!)

Then, we partied with 60,000 people at the Peachtree Road Race! I hope Benjamin will run it with me one day 🙂

And finally, we partied for precious Hattie’s 1st birthday!

In addition to all that partying, Benjamin went to “Superhero” camp (or super camp as he calls it) and will soon go to “Beach” camp. Needless to say, we are staying busy and having a fun summer. In his down time, he has enjoyed racing his cars, swimming in the pool, and running around in circles. Life is busy and fun! Hope all of you are enjoying summer too!

It’s been awhile…

So, I have neglected this little blog for far too long. Almost 6 months since my last post! One of my goals at the beginning of this year was to post more on here. Better late than never, right? Maybe I’ll do better in the second half of 2014 than the first!
I think the best way to get caught up is to post one picture for each month. Since I blogged in January I will start with February.
So in February, B turned 2!!

I know that was a lot of pictures but believe me, it was hard to narrow it down to just a few! Benjamin is growing and changing each day. He is so very active and talks all day long! He’s very physical and loves to wrestle with Daddy and ride on his shoulders. He likes to run all day long and I get to chase after him! He is such a delight and Scott and I love him so much. Today is our 9th anniversary and even though we were married almost 7 years before Benjamin was born (which was awesome!!), it’s hard to remember what life was like before him!
If you’re still reading this (hi mom and dad!), thanks for bearing with me while I play catch-up on the blog. Basically, Scott is working really hard, Benjamin is running really hard, and I am running hard to keep up with him!

My Mom

I realize it has been a long time since I last blogged. Do you ever have a hard time finding words to say? That has been the case for me the past few months. In September, we found out that my Mom has stage 4 pancreatic cancer. It has been so hard watching my sweet, precious Mother go through this. I wish that I could take it all away. She is fighting very hard and is covered in prayer thanks to our sweet family and friends. She also has the best nurse, my Dad 🙂
I wanted to write about her today because it’s her birthday. No one deserves to be celebrated more than her! She is the best Mother and Grandmother and I couldn’t be more proud to be her daughter. Happy Birthday, Mom/Grammy! Scott, Benjamin and I love you so much!

School Days

Benjamin started his very first day of preschool on Tuesday. He just goes for two mornings a week and did great during his first week. Of course we had to take some “first day” pictures. It will be fun to see how much he grows and learns during the year. It was weird being without my sidekick while he was at school, but I know he is having fun playing with the other kids.

Airplanes

A couple of weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon we took Benjamin to Peachtree Dekalb airport so he could swing and watch the airplanes. Swinging, airplanes and an afternoon snack is the perfect combination for this 18 month old 🙂

18 months

Guess who turned 18 months old today??

Benjamin had his 18 month checkup today and is doing great. He weighs 27 lbs (65th percentile) and is 34.5 in. long (97th percentile). He is still wearing 18-24 month clothes and size 4 diapers. He went up to size 5 in shoes. He has 12 teeth and is getting number 13 (at least I think so, I can really only look in his mouth and count teeth when he’s asleep because he won’t let me otherwise!). He is talking up a storm and has too many words for me to count. We joke that he is like a parrot because he pretty much repeats whatever we say!
He continues to love books and likes to carry them everywhere he goes. He still loves his Chick-fil-a cow and his cow puppet. He excitedly shouts, “Moo!!” whenever he plays with them. He also loves music and going outside.
He is a really sweet boy despite having some what I like to call “toddler moments” lately. He has learned the word “No” and isn’t afraid to say it! He mainly has these “moments” when he is tired and hungry. But the times when he gives kisses more than makes up for the times when he acts like that 🙂
I am enjoying being with this little guy and watching him grow so much. Everyday he surprises us with a new word or skill that he has learned. He is such an amazing gift from God and Scott and I feel so blessed that we get to be his Mama and Daddy!

First Haircut

Hello from Benjamin’s house!
Last weekend we took Benjamin for his very first haircut! He doesn’t have a lot of hair, but it was starting to get kind of shaggy in the back. He kind of had a comb-over/mullet going on 🙂 So we headed over to a super-cute children’s hair salon where suckers (um, I mean first-time parents!) pay good money for that special first haircut. Well, it was money well spent! He had the best time “driving” the car he was sitting in and he was so good while the lady snipped his precious locks. He had so much fun that he didn’t want to leave!

A Day in the Life

Yesterday I decided to take pictures of everything Benjamin did in just the time span of 10 minutes. Here are the results:

In just ten minutes time, he did some driving, some drinking (not while driving though!), listened to some tunes on his “iPod”, read a book, sat in his chair, did a puzzle, stole Mommy’s wallet, and checked on the neighborhood. Whew, I need a nap just thinking about it! 17 months sure is a busy age. We love watching him learn and explore!
He also got a new ball cap. He looks like such a little man when he wears it. Where did my baby go??

Ok, I’m off to go catch him before he climbs up the bookcase. Hopefully I’ll be able to update the blog again sometime soon 🙂

We’ve nursed some bumps, scrapes and bruises on the face (he likes to RUN! And doesn’t watch where he’s going!!)

We’ve done some light reading in the car to help Daddy prepare for his Bible study 🙂

15 months

Benjamin just had his 15 month (where is the time going????) checkup and weighs 25 lbs, 15 oz (70th percentile) and is 34 in. long (still off the charts for height!!). The dr. said he looks great and is growing like he should be. She is still amazed at how long he is 🙂
Here are your latest Benjamin “facts”:
-Clothes: size 18-24 months
-Shoes: size 4
-Diapers: size 4
-Teeth: 10 total (6 on top, 4 on bottom)
– Sleep: 11 hours at night (8 p.m. to 7 or 7:30 a.m.) and one nap during the day (1 p.m. to 3 or 4 p.m.)
-Words: says Mama, Dada, Dadu (thank you), uh oh, Bye, Bah (ball), Papa, Wawa (water), Yum, Vroom Vroom (sound for car or truck)
-Likes: playing outside, looking at books, listening to music, flipping lights on and off, running, eating, pointing and saying “Oooh”, playing with the phone or iPad, getting his teeth brushed
-Dislikes: being held for longer than a second, peas and carrots (he will eat them but he lets you know he doesn’t care for them), diaper changes (playing music during this has helped), taking something away from him, closing the gate to his playroom.
He has started holding his breath when he is upset or hurt. The dr. assured us that it is normal for some children to do this and that even if he passes out, he will start breathing. It is not something he is doing on purpose and is basically out of his control. It still terrifies us when he does it. The dr. says its a phase so we hope he grows out of it quickly! I’m getting better at anticipating when it might happen. Prayers please that he stops doing this!! He is so happy 99% of the time that it always shocks me when he does it. Oh the joys of having a toddler 🙂 I think he is getting a strong will from his Mama. It is probably payback for when I held my breath for my parents when I was a baby 🙂
Benjamin really is a joy to be around and amazes me everyday. He is learning so much and growing so fast!
