A Walk in the Park

This past weekend the weather was perfect so we headed over to the nature center to play and get some fresh air. Benjamin tried sliding down the slide for the first time (with some help from Mom and Dad) and he loved it!! It was nice to get a taste of Spring. We can’t wait to spend more time outside as the weather gets warmer!

Don’t know why Benjamin looks so serious here but I swear he was having a good time!

Like Father, Like Son

I hope he grows up to be as kind, sweet, loyal and funny as his Daddy. I think he’s already well on his way! I love these two so, so much!

One Year Checkup

Benjamin just had his one year checkup at the doctor. I am always interested to see how much he has grown since his last appointment. He weighs 24 lbs, 13 oz (85th percentile) and is 33.5 inches long which is off the charts for height! We are still amazed at how tall he is and so is his pediatrician. Do you think it’s too soon to teach him how to play basketball? How young do they draft for the NBA? Haha, just joking. Here are some other random Benjamin facts:
-Clothes: He wears some 12 month things but is mostly wearing 18 months
-Diapers: Size 3 but starting to wear size 4 at night
-Sleep: He sleeps from 8-7:30ish every night (Thank you, Jesus!). He takes a morning catnap from about 10:30 or 10:45-11:15 and a long afternoon nap from around 2:30-4 or 4:30.
-Food: He likes just about everything we’ve given him! He’s getting really good at picking up food and feeding himself. He is still pretty inconsistent about drinking from a cup. He can do it, he just chooses not to a lot of the time. He stills drinks a bottle in the morning and at night but is completely off of formula and drinking whole milk.
-Getting around: He is walking pretty well but still trying to find his balance. He seems to prefer to walk but still likes to crawl sometimes. He likes riding in the stroller and in the car.
-Teeth: Two on the bottom and two on top. I think he has two more coming in on top though.
-Likes: books (Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar is his favorite), flipping light switches on and off, moving furniture (especially when we say no!), picking up objects and walking around with them, playing peek a boo, emptying his toy bag out onto the floor, clapping for himself, waving at people, going to Kindermusik.
-Dislikes: getting dressed, diaper changes, wiping his face, being held for more than a second
-Says: Dada, Mama, Uh Oh, Hey, Vroom (when playing with his play car or riding in our car), Ahh (when he or someone else drinks from a cup).
I am always amazed by this little guy! Sorry this is so long, I just want to make sure I record all of these things before I forget!

This was a picture I snapped of him at the doctors office before he got his shots. I opted not to take one afterwards. You can use your imagination to picture what he looked like after getting his shots!

Happy Birthday, Benjamin!

Benjamin turned One on Friday February 22nd. We had a party for him the next day. We got to celebrate his birthday with our family and some of our friends who are practically family 🙂 Benjamin had the best time and we are so thankful to everyone who made his first birthday so special! The theme was “B is for Benjamin” and Aunt Meg made the cutest “B” cupcakes and a cake for Benjamin to smash. At first he didn’t quite know what to make of the cake. With a little encouragement he started to eat it but mainly wanted the frosting. I have to agree with him that the frosting is usually the best part!!
Scott and I are so thankful for everyone’s love and support the past year as we have started the journey of parenthood. God has blessed us greatly with our son Benjamin David and we can wait to see what the next year will hold! Enjoy the video and some of the pictures from his party. I know there are a lot but it was hard to decide which ones to include!
